My name is Ellie Kathryn Gifford - I am a 29 year old mama to two [Mason and Ivy] and wife to my high-school sweetheart [Nathan].
For the time being I am on maternity leave from my job as a lululemon educator. If you don't know about our company culture - you should! In my free minutes [so...while Mason and Ivy sleep!] I design and create meditation necklaces [called mala beads], bracelets and teething jewelry and sell them in my online store, The Wonder Love Shop. Learn more about malas here.
The last time I updated this page, our town, Newcastle, had three stop-lights, a volunteer fire department and two dentists What a difference a year makes! There are now four stop-lights, a part-time fire department and five dentists ;) I see people I know every time I go to the grocery store and the post office, and my backyard is three times the size of the new subdivision lots. Our little family lives in a 60 year old bungalow that is being renovated room-by-room, slowly but surely. It is a veritable petting zoo! Our doberman is named Dante, our husky named Lexi and we have three cats as well.

I have kept a blog on and off for the last 14 years, and an old-school pen and paper journal for years prior to that. Wide Eyed with Wonder was born from a need to have an outlet to write, to document, to remember. And I hoped that maybe, just maybe, other people might like to read what I had to say. It is my place to celebrate the good, work through the confusing, share the beautiful and make sense of the difficult. It is place for me to think things through, to share some harsh realities and to chronicle my life as a wife, entrepreneur, creative and new mum.
I believe in the power of dreaming big dreams, and setting BIG goals. Goals with intention, hope and timelines. Sometimes those goals don't pan out...the vision sort of fizzles without so much as a pop...and then it's time to make a choice - revise or move on. I believe that this is 100% completely okay. And, sometimes we set big goals - and when we achieve them, something magical happens.
Right now, I'm working towards the following long-term goals:
- Owning and running a profitable and sustainable home business that allows me to;
- Stay home to raise our children as I myself was raised by my mother
- Creating a natural, minimalist beauty routine
- Maximizing whole foods in our diet
- Minimizing clutter and noise in our lives
I also believe:
- in gluten free cupcakes as a birthday treat
- that goal-setting changes lives
- there is a lesson in every situation...you just have to search for it
- in magic, sunshine and rainbows
- that memories are made to be documented
- that love is worth the fight
